Mac & Cheese
Mac & Cheese is typically a very American dish and I must admit I had never really tried it until recently as I was really focused on Italian recipes. After trying Mac & Cheese I realized what I had been missing out on - a fantastic, cheesy dish that really warmed you up from the inside (mind you, you really must love cheese or this recipe is nothing for you).
Champagne Thanksgiving Turkey
Cooking Turkey with Champagne already sounds quite “wow” so if you’re hosting and let your guests know about this extra touch they will definitely be very curious. The holy rule when roasting Turkey is LIQUIDS! I have learned that you really really need to keep your Turkey moist if you want the outcome to be nice and juice and not dry like a shoe sole so this Champagne + Chicken Broth mixture was really perfect for me.
Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Parmesan
It’s Brussels Sprout season and I can make my favorite Brussels Sprout dish again: Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Parmesan. I love this dish either as a light meal with some cuscus, quinoa or rice or as a side dish accompanying fish, meat or tofu. Brussels Sprouts are extremely easy to clean and cook and have a very special flavor - I really like adding the parmesan on the top at the end of the bake time as it really mixes well with the sprout taste and gives them an additional crunchiness. You can also make the vegan version and leave the parmesan out or add vegan cheese.
Candied Pecans
I have become absolutely obsessed with Candied Pecans since I discovered them. Originally I was playing around with them to create fun Thanksgiving recipes but I quickly realised that they go well with so many things. My favourite salad now has goat cheese and candied pecans, but you can also add them to your breakfast yogurt or muesli or even try them with a chicken or tuna salad or just eat them as a snack on their own.
Pecan Pie
Pecan Pie is one of the most famous dishes of Southern U.S origin and is served on many occasions including Thanksgiving. We love to have it with Vanilla Ice Cream or Whipped Cream. Bring a taste of the U.S to your house with this maple syrup based Pecan Pie and delight your guests and family.
Honey Glazed Roasted Vegetables
Honey Glazed vegetables are super easy to make and really delicious - you can have them with meat or cuscus, rice or other grains. I especially like this recipe as I usually don’t use celeriac and parsnip as I don’t like them that much but roasted with the honey glaze they are really good and absolutely healthy.
Roasted Beets
Roasted Beets are absolutely delicious as the process of roasting them really brings out their sweetness and caramelised taste. Because of this sweetness it is best to pair Roasted Beets with either meats like turkey, beef brisket or salmon but our all time favourite are Roasted Beets with Goats Cheese and Roasted Beets with Green Beans.
Sweet Potatoes with Marshmallows
Sweet Potatoes with Marshmallows is a traditional American classic I discovered during a Thanksgiving dinner. I have to admit when I first saw the dish I thought it was either a joke or a cute way to make kids eat more sweet potatoes. Then I tried it, and for the rest of the evening I couldn’t stop eating this strange but delicious purée of sweet potatoes and marshmallows.
Pumpkin Pie
For Pumpkin lovers there might be nothing more delicious than Pumpkin Pie - sweet yet not too sweet it has the perfect balance of tastes. Making a Pumpkin Pie at home is not only easy but also really fun. It is also a perfect pie for lazier cooks or for those who don’t have that much time as instead of making the shortcrust and pumpkin purée yourself you can buy them both and save yourself some time. If you decide to buy everything the recipe will only take you around 15 Min prep time.
Roasted Butternut Squash Soup
This weekend we decided it was time to make the first Butternut Squash Soup of the season and of course to make it even better we decided to roast the Butternut Squash beforehand. Roasting the Butternut Squash will really elevate your dish - yes it takes a little longer for the roasting part but it’s 100% worth it and you can simply put it in the oven, put a timer and not worry about it.
