Best Fondue in and around Zürich (2023 - 2024 Edition)
Fondue season is finally back and we want to share our favourite Fondue Restaurants with you. Whether you are Swiss or not - Fondue is a definite winter tradition that should be enjoyed at least once a month during winter months! Some restaurants have also adapted to today’s needs and offer vegan and gluten free fondue options making it easier to enjoy this delicacy for more people.
This is an updated 2023/2024 Fondue Restaurant list - if you know any more great fondue places let me know and I’ll go try them :)
Most of the restaurants on our list also have other options on their Menus (in case you are visiting the restaurant with non fondue lovers).
Chalet Au Lac
Probably the fanciest Fondue you can have in Zürich is in the Chalet Au Lac in the Baur Au Lac Hotel. The atmosphere is magical and the food is divine.
Perfect for: Date Night, Dinner with Friends
The only “issue” with the Chalet Au Lac is that you need to order a 4-course Menu which will set you back CHF 135 pp. This being said the Menu is delicious and you can also choose to have Filet, Fondue, Fondue Chinoise or Raclette as a main course.

Chäsalp
Chäsalp is a very special place to enjoy a delicous fondue as it is in a farmhouse and there are also animals running around outside which makes the atmosphere even more magical.
Perfect for: Dinner with friends or a dinner with your colleagues.
There are so many types of Fondue at Chäsalp that you migh get lost when reading through the menu but we suggest you go for the Moitié- Moitié or the Chäsalp Fondue which is their specialty. There are also other dishes for people who don’t like fondue.

Frau Gerolds Garten
Frau Gerolds Garten is a bit of an institution in Zürich - beautiful summer garden with a bar in the summer and cozy Yurt in the winter. with a wintery outside area.
Perfect for: Dinner with friends or a dinner with your colleagues.
We suggest you try the Truffles Fondue but if you want to play it safe order the Moitié-Moitié. There are also other dishes for people who don’t like fondue.

Fondue Chalet Züriberg
The Chalet Züriberg is located in the Sorell Hotel Zürichberg and in our opinion it’s the coziest Fondue you can get - it’s the only Fonue on this list with a view over the city. We suggest you start your dinner early or go for an early apero.
Perfect for: Date Night, Dinner with Friends
We recommend the original Fondue. There is also Raclette and Fondue Chinoise and one vegan option but the menu is Fondue and cheese based.

Degenried
Degenried is generally speaking a gem! Set in the middle of the forest close to the Dolder Hotel you really feel like you are in a fairytale. What we also love about Degenried is that they list all the partners they work with on their menu and all the products they work with are local.

Cheese Fondue is not their specialty but it is delicious and the menu offers various other dishes we love (Fondue Chinoise, Cordon Bleu, Schnitzel, Home Made Ravioli)

Fribourger Fondue Stübli
Fribourger Fondue Stübli is, as the name suggests, only dedicated to fondue. Their menu is extremely small but delightful made up of 2 fondue varieties and some starters.
Perfect for: Date Night, Dinner with Friends
This is where we tried Pineapple and Pears in a fondue for the first time.

Fondue Chalet
Fondue Chalet has two locations, one in Europaallee and one in Grossmünster and is another pop up alert! They will be opening their doors from the 23.11.2023 until the 23.12.2024

Illuminarium
The Illuminarium is a yearly event which takes place during the wintertime in Zürich. This year it will be from 09.11.2023 until the 30.12.2023. Their Fondue Chalet is really cute and there is always a vibe especially on weekends.

Walliser Keller - Vegan Fondue
Walliser Keller is perfect if you want to have a Fondue right in the middle of Zürich. Yes it is a bit more touristy but the Fondue is very good and they even have Vegan Fondue!

Here again we suggest you go for the Moitié-Moitié or the Tomato Fondue.

Fondue Tram and Fondue Boat
Do you want something a little different? Then book a fondue evening on the Fondue Tram or Fondue Boat. The fondue is not one of our favourites but it’s definitely an experience!
