Easy Focaccia Recipe
Not only is focaccia vegan but it’s also extremely simple to make. Before making home made focaccia at home for the first time I always thought it would be the most complicated thing and I then quickly realised that it’s one of the easiest breads you can make at home.
The focaccia requires little to no ingredients, a very small preparation, some rest time and only 10 minutes in the oven. My favourite thing about it as that you can top it with absolutely anything, making it the perfect aperitif for when guests come over or even a quick lunch.
Prep Time: 20 Minutes
Cooking Time: 10 Minutes + Rest Time
Serving: 4
Cost: $
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
Flour - 350g
Water - 200mL
Active dry yeast (7g) or 15g fresh yeast
Olive Oil - 5 Tbs
White Sugar - 1/2 Tbs
Fine Sea Salt - 1/2 Tbs
Toppings: Rosemary, Tomatoes, Sea Salt, Olive Oil
Preparation:
Get a bowl and add the flour, sugar and the fine sea salt and mix together
In a separate bowl mix the yeast and the lukewarm water dissolving the fresh yeast
Make a hole in the middle of flour mixture and put the 5 Tbs of Olive oil and the lukewarm yeast water in the hole
Mix everything together and as soon as you have a paste you can start kneading the dough on a clean and floured surface. Knead for around 10/15 minutes
Make a ball with the dough and place it in a floured bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel and leave to rest in a warm place for an hour
After an hour get a baking tray (preferably square) grease it with some olive oil and place the dough inside extending it with your hands cover it and let it rest for another 40 minutes
Pre-heat the oven to 250c, make some holes with your fingers in the dough (not actual holes just some fingerprints) drizzle some olive oil, put some salt and your toppings and bake for 10 minutes.
Serve warm or cold :)
