Asparagus Wrapped Puff Pastries with Philadelphia
Asparagus wrapped puff pastries with Philadelphia are my all time favorite asparagus recipe - they are so easy to make and so tasty that you’ll find yourself making them multiple times a week. They are also a guest favorite and kids love them - you can go nuts and also try to put different kids of cheese as a spread (brie is also delicious) or you can use a vegan alternative.
For this I’m extremely lazy and don’t make the dough by myself, I prefer to buy it as I’ve found a dough I really like and which works perfectly for this specific recipe. You can also make the dough at home if you have time.
I hope you like these delicious wrapped asparagus :)
Prep Time: 15 Minutes
Cooking Time: 20 Minutes
Ingredients for 2 portions:
Green Asparagus - around 18
Puff Pastry - I used this one
Philadelphia (normal or with herbs)
Salt and Pepper
Preparation:
We start this dish by cleaning the asparagus and cutting off the hard ends.
We bring some water to boil and once it’s boiling cook the asparagus for 5 to 7 minutes. You can poke them, they should be semi-soft but not super soft.
Pre-heat the oven to 180°C.
Now take your puff pastry and cut it into straps (they can be thin or thick, you can really make them the way you prefer. You can even wrap the asparagus multiple times with thin layers).
Spread Philadelphia on each strip - again you decide how much (I usually go with 1/1.5 Tbs per strip). You can also substitute the Philadelphia with a vegan spread.
Put the asparagus in the strip and wrap the pastry around them - place them on a baking tray covered in parchment paper.
Place them in the oven and bake them for around 30 minutes (this really depends on the pastry you are using). When the pastry looks nice and golden you can take your wrapped asparagus out and serve them warm.
