Homemade Lemonade
A homemade lemonade is my all time favourite drink in the summer - it’s refreshing and delicious and hydrates me on those days where I don’t feel like drinking “just simple water”.
This homemade lemonade is super easy to make, I try to add as little sugar as possible and you can also put even less but if you want your lemonade to be a bit sweeter you can definitely add more. I use rosemary to give my lemonades an extra kick but you can also leave it out or go crazy and add basil or any other herbs you think will fit well.
Pro Tip: You can make ice cubes with your lemonade mixture and add those to your lemonade so it never gets watered down
Prep Time: 5 Minutes
Ingredients:
Lemons: 6-8 medium size lemons - make sure your lemons are fresh and juicy
Sugar: White granulated sugar - 60g
Water: 1L - How much water you add really depends on how sweet you like your lemonade.
Extras:
Rosemary Stems
Preparation:
Add the sugar and half of the water in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil and mix until the sugar has dissolved. Remove from the heat and place it on the side to cool
Use a lemon squeezer to get all the juice from the lemons - I usually don’t sieve the juice after the lemon squeezer also because I don’t mind some small pieces of lemon in my lemonade.
Combine the syrup you made with the lemon juice and mix - put in the fridge and let cool.
When ready, add in the other half of the water - here I sometimes like to use sparkling water to give it an extra kick. You can also add some additional lemon slices.
Extra tip - if you are using the rosemary you can either add it when you out the mixture in the fridge or at the very end - putting it in before will give it a bit more of a rosemary taste.
If you can’t want for the lemonade to cool just add some ice cubes.
